Arrival in Urbino, check-in, relax, and free time. In the afternoon, guided tour of the city and its beauties within the UNESCO World Heritage historic centre; in particular visit of the Ducal Palace of Urbino, home to the National Gallery of the Marche where you can admire some of the undisputed masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance such as the Flagellation and the Madonna di Senigallia by Piero della Francesca, the Ideal City, by an unknown artist, the Portrait of a Lady known as La Muta and Saint Catherine of Alexandria, both by Raphael. Urbino, the birthplace of Raphael Sanzio, is one of the most important centres of the Italian Renaissance, which still fully preserves its architectural heritage; since 1998, its historic centre has been a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is home to one of the oldest and most important universities in Europe, founded in 1506. Dinner at a typical restaurant where you can taste the famous crescia sfogliata, a specialty very appreciated at the court of the Dukes of Urbino in the 15th century. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.”
Breakfast and departure to Acqualagna, the truffle capital that attracts many food enthusiasts each year. The small city is located in the area of Gola del Furlo, a marveillous natural reserve and it is also the Enrico Mattei’s birthplace. Lunch at the Truffle Fair. In the afternoon, excursion with a truffle hunter and its dog to search for the famous Tuber Magnatum Pico in the woods nearby Acqualagna ; later , dinner at a traditional restaurant featuring truffles. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
