The City of the Befana is preparing to pay homage to the old lady, who on her broomstick will distribute sweets and gifts to all children and more!
Programma
Arrival in Urbino. Check-in at the hotel. Guided tour of the historic centre of Urbino, the birthplace of the painter Raffaello Sanzio, starting from the Palazzo Ducale, a Renaissance masterpiece that houses the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, where you can admire some of the most representative works of artists at the court of Duke Federico da Montefeltro. Free lunch; we recommend trying the “crescia sfogliata,” the true queen of local delicacies. In the afternoon, prosecution of the visit to the Cathedral of Urbino, renovated after the 1789’s earthquake in a Neoclassical style, and the Teatro Sanzio, the main theatre of Urbino. Later, visit the Fortezza Albornoz, whose location offers a privileged panoramic view of the city and the surrounding landscape. Dinner and evening stroll to enjoy the magical atmosphere of Urbino. Overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for Urbania. Visit the historic centre starting from the Museum of Ceramics, where you can discover the region’s ceramic tradition, flourishing since the Renaissance, followed by a workshop held by a craftsman in his studio. Lunch at the food stalls of the Befana festival. In the afternoon, visit the Palazzo Ducale, residence of the Dukes of Montefeltro, where the last chapter of ducal history took place with Francesco Maria II Della Rovere, who lived in the palace for about half a century. Dinner in Urbania. Return to Urbino and overnight stay.
